Annette Fuson is a recent Cambridge Who’s Who member and the author of Straight Talk for Teenage Girls, a book that provides straight-forward and useful advice, ideas and solutions for dealing with real world situations that all girls need as they mature. With her sharp wit and up-beat and entertaining style, Ms. Fuson uses her 20 years of teaching experience to educate and assist teens in making intelligent choices for their lives and futures. Her book has recently been accepted by two companies that are widely used by school libraries, namely Perma Bound and Follett. Ms. Fuson hopes that Straight Talk will become an essential addition to middle school and high school libraries around the country.
Straight Talk for Teenage Girls touches on a variety of issues that teens are confronted with on a daily basis, such as gaining self-esteem, managing emotions, building friendships, coping with problems and learning how to avoid serious mistakes. Ms. Fuson delves into the most controversial of subjects, discussing ways to recognize controlling behavior from a boyfriend or girlfriend and how to handle drug and alcohol abuse, promiscuity and teen pregnancy. A reference guide for teens, parents and counselors alike, Straight Talk also includes telephone numbers and websites that may be of use along with several questions from real girls, life examples and self tests.
Ms. Fuson also conveys her message through public speaking. To keep her presentations lively
and interesting, Ms. Fuson designs innovative workshops to suit the needs of the group she is addressing. In addition to leading seminars that help parents to deal with and motivate their teens, she has conducted workshops for several school districts and national organizations throughout her career on communicating with teens, developing their self-esteem, and helping them to solve problems and remove themselves from unhealthy situations.
Annette Fuson currently resides in Morgan’s Point Resort, Texas with her husband. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and masters in management, both from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
