Sherrie Spychaj Helping Victims of Abuse

helping_victims_of_abuse_logoOne woman will take a turn at good fortune on Saturday, July 18, 2009 as she receives a makeover from Cambridge Who’s Who lifetime member Sherrie Spychaj and her beauty consulting team. A cancer survivor and former abuse victim, Ms. Spychaj is committed to helping disadvantaged women transform their lives. Both the guest participant and Women’s Protective Services of Lubbock, Texas will receive cash, clothes and gifts donated by local vendors and the public.

The fundraising event will be held at Furrs Family Dining, located at 6001 Slide Road in Lubbock, Texas, from 11am-2pm. Entertainment will be provided, including martial arts demonstrations, vendors, raffles and a guest speaker. Roy Rios from Women’s Protective Services will be present to assist Ms. Spychaj in delivering this unique, potentially life-changing makeover. Reservations are required; vendors may also reserve booths to display their merchandise.

Ms. Spychaj is a certified beauty advisor and Avon independent business owner. She devotes her spare time to fundraising for nonprofit organizations and cancer foundations. She also speaks out against domestic violence. “I was a victim of this abuse and while I was going through it, the love and support from my family and friends made the process of changing my life easier,” she remembers. “With love and support it is much easier to get out of this position and move forward to make a healthier life.” It is her hope to continue supporting those who may not have the opportunity – or encouragement from others – to turn their lives around.

Ms. Spychaj has put together a booklet titled “Staying Safe: Helping Victims of Abuse,” which offers hints and tips for protecting oneself from mistreatment. The pamphlet, which is distributed in Amarillo, Lubbock, Plainview, Midland and Odessa, Texas, displays numerous ads from local businesses. Companies interested in promoting their products and services should reach out to Ms. Spychaj to secure a spot. Ad space ranges in price from $15 to $75; your announcement will run every time the booklets are printed.

Tickets for the lunch, gift fair and raffle are available from Ms. Spychaj by calling (806) 796-3609 or emailing spychaj@sbcglobal.net. You can also register or submit donations directly via the event site: Helping Victims of Abuse.

One Response to “Sherrie Spychaj Helping Victims of Abuse”

  1. Becky B. Says:

My dream is to help people who have been and are being abused. I was sexually abused as a little girl, and just last month, I was delivered from that hurt, scared, and lonely girl. I long to help others be set free from what has been holding them down. God has called me into the ministry field – something that I didn’t want, but now that I have said YES to God, I feel that it is where I am supposed to be. I’ve always wanted to see people happy while forgetting about myself, so I know that I am the one for the job to save as many people as God will allow me to. God bless you. Your story has inspired me to do whatever it takes to get started with what my heart is beating and longing to do.

    Becky B.
